October 15, 2023

Dear Community Members,

We want to inform our community that a boil water advisory is in effect due to recent developments with our water supply. Your safety and well-being are our utmost priority, and we are taking every necessary step to address this situation.

Background:

On October 15, 2023, at 5:30 am, the MFN water plant’s ‘jockey’ pump, which has been operating due to the water tower remediation project (the water tower is currently offline), tripped ‘Off.’ This incident resulted in a sudden loss of water pressure in our community.

Actions Taken:

Our diligent on-call water operator, in response to a community member’s alert about the pressure loss, promptly notified Allen ORO, our primary contact for water-related matters. Allen acted swiftly and consulted the Environmental Health Officer, who recommended the issuance of a Boil Water Advisory to ensure your safety.

What You Need to Do:

1. Boil Water: It is crucial to bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, or brushing your teeth. Allow the boiled water to cool before use.

2. Alternate Water Sources: If boiling is not possible, consider using bottled water or another safe water source for drinking and cooking.

3. Bathing: While tap water can be used for bathing and showering, avoid ingesting it during these activities, especially for young children.

4. Washing Dishes: Use boiled water or a dishwasher with a sanitizing cycle for washing dishes, utensils, and cookware.

5. Water Filters: If you have a water filtration system, consult the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure it effectively removes contaminants during a boil water advisory.

Sampling and Advisory Lifting:

Our water operators will commence colilert water sampling ASAP. We must obtain two consecutive colilert samples taken 24 hours apart from each other to consider lifting the boil water advisory.

Your safety is our priority, and we are diligently working to resolve this situation. We will keep you updated on any developments.
