Reporting Relationship
The Postal Services Lead reports to the Finance Director and is supervised by the Office Administration
Position Summary
Postal Lead position is responsible for the efficient operations of a postal office, supervise and co-ordinate the activities of workers ensuring smooth operations, including personnel, customer service, and financial matters. They ensure that mail and package deliveries are processed, sorted, and delivered effectively and efficiently in accordance with Canada Post guidelines.
Essential Functions
• Oversees the provision of counter sales and services in a dealer outlet
• Oversees the financial operations – daily
• Maintains good relations with postal customers and staff
• Controls the inventory
• Oversees postal delivery such as daily sortation to lock box, general delivery of the office, Preparing and submitting regular operation reports, keeping track of expenditures, revenues, and other financial information. Including purchasing and purchase orders.
• Complete all training required when provided.
• Ensure the on-call staff and Postal Clerk are up to date in the training. Train on call staff in job duties as required,
• Development of safety procedures and postal procedural manual.
• Ensure the safety of customers by clearing debris and hazards. Implementing security measures to safeguard postal workers and mail.
• Establish work schedules, timesheets and procedures and co-ordinate daily activities.
• Resolve work-related problems and prepare and submit progress and other reports.
• Managing the operation of the post office and supervising postal service clerk and other staff
• Addressing and resolving customer complaints and service issues.
• Administrative Duties as required and attend meetings as required.
• Manages the safe responsibilities, ensuring working closely with the Finance Department (Budgets, revenue and expenditures).
Qualifications and Requirements
• Degree in Business Administration or relevant field or post-secondary certificate in Secretarial or related field of study with related work experience.
• Grade 12 diploma with strong understanding of postal operations and regulations
Other:
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of Ojibwe culture and First Nation community is a must.
• Demonstrate ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
• Work appropriately and sensitively with confidential information.
• Demonstrate computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
• Have knowledge in the operation and use of office equipment.
• Work flexible hours and weekends when required.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Proficiency in office software and post office equipment
• Excellent organizational
• CRC Required.
• Must be available during operating hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Work Environment:
• Generally, very busy and hectic. Physical demands are the physical activities that the job requires the worker to do, standings, lifting, ensure building clear of debris.
