SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (YEP) COORDINATOR
Classification Level: CS-1 ($18.41 – $23.17) Depending on Experience

M’Chigeeng First Nation is seeking a Summer Student who can assist other band membership students find summer employment by providing job search skills, assessments for training & action plan development. Position Summary:
The YEP Coordinator works under the direction of the LDM Training Development Officer. With required training, will work directly with students to provide intake, assessment, and job search techniques to determine required training and action plan development to finding summer employment. Coordinate’s employers and student activities, including follow-up. Maintains files and case management for tracking client needs and progress. Develops, records, and maintains statistical client data and workshops delivered for program and funding reporting submissions. Processes YEP employer claim forms, activity reports; maintains financial documents and program budgets.
Student Services
• Creates and promotes a comfortable and trusting atmosphere.
• Works with students with job search skills (i.e., resume and cover letter development).
• Coordinate activities between employers and student employees with follow-up
• Provides and maintains file and case management for tracking student needs and progress, monitoring, and follow-up to determine measurement of successes and gaps.
Networking and Marketing
• Understands M’Chigeeng FN and surrounding area labour market and labour force.
• Develops student skills inventory resource for employer referral staffing needs, client capacity and workshop training development and demands.
Reporting and Administration
• Develops, records, and maintains statistical student data information, workshops and training sessions delivered for program and funding report submissions.
• Processes YEP employer claim forms and activity reports
• Processes and maintains financial documents and program budgets.
• Prepares final YEP activity report for submission.
• Maintains the YEP procedural manual and student training plans for skills development requirements.
• Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time to assist in the promotion of the organization’s mandate.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Must be returning to school in the fall (2026) or graduating student (2026).
• M’Chigeeng First Nation Member.
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Previous work experience in administration would be an asset.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Knowledge with the culture and customs of the Anishinaabe and fluency in Anishinabemowin is a strong asset.
Other
Excellent time management and organizational skills with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
Must maintain confidentiality always.
Must obtain and keep current First Aid and CPR Certification.
A strong advocate of M’Chigeeng First Nation’s goals and objectives along with its mission and long-term vision.
Must be willing to work flexible hours and weekends.
Upon hire, a Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) must be submitted.
