Composition of Council. 4. (1) Except as authorized by this code, the council consists of the chief and ten councillors. (2) One councillor will be the deputy chief.

Role of Council 5. (1) The council is the elected representative of the M’Chigeeng First Nation and will, at all times, act in good faith and in a manner it considers in the best interests of the membership as a whole. (2) The council will exercise the powers and perform the duties conferred on it under this code. (3) The council may exercise the powers and perform the duties conferred upon it under the authority of the M’Chigeeng First Nation. (4) The powers and rights conferred on the council under this code are in addition to, and in no way in derogation from, the powers and rights conferred on a band council under the Indian Act.
